Jason Salvino Verta enlisted with the Marine Corps after graduating from Highland High School in 2004. Over the next four years, through hard work and dedication, he rose to the rank of Corporal. While stationed in Twentynine Palms, California with the 3rd AAB (Assault Amphibian Battalion), he got orders to deploy and support OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom). He died in a car accident, September 7 2008, while home on leave. Just one month prior to his units scheduled return from deployment.

Salvino Verta established Jason's Bar & Grill on December 11 2009 to honor his late son, CPL. Jason Salvino Verta. We have been serving Northwest Indiana Italian cuisine in his honor since then.
